Fresh Strawberry Lemonade
Once you’ve had lemonade made with real fruit and fresh-squeezed lemons, the powdered stuff is hard to go back to. This is barely more work and tastes like summer.
Balance is everything: taste after mixing and adjust. Strawberries and lemons vary wildly in sweetness and acidity, so the recipe is a starting point, not a rule.
Fresh Strawberry Lemonade
Real strawberry purée and fresh-squeezed lemon over ice — a sweet-tart summer drink with no artificial anything, ready in fifteen minutes.
Ingredients
For the simple syrup
- ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
- ½ cup (120 ml) water
For the lemonade
- 1 lb (450 g) strawberries, hulled
- 1 cup (240 ml) fresh lemon juice (about 5–6 lemons)
- 4 cups (960 ml) cold water
- Ice, lemon slices and mint, to serve
Instructions
- Make the syrup — heat the sugar and water in a small pot, stirring, until the sugar dissolves, then cool.
- Blend the strawberries into a smooth purée. Strain through a sieve if you want it seedless.
- In a large pitcher, combine the strawberry purée, lemon juice, cold water and cooled syrup.
- Stir well, taste, and add more syrup or water to balance. Serve over plenty of ice with lemon slices and mint.
Recipe notes & tips
- Adjust sweetness to your strawberries — riper berries need less syrup.
- Freeze extra purée in an ice cube tray to chill drinks without diluting them.
- Top with sparkling water instead of still for a fizzy version.
